Imports into desktop tool not importing keywords?

Over the past few weeks, when I try to import campaigns via the desktop tool, my ad groups get uploaded but my keywords do not.  I do not have this issue when uploading through the UI.  I have tried reinstalling the tool and everything.  Has anyone else seen this issue and if so, what do you recommend I do?

Thanks!

Dave

    Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me.  No errors occur when I import these csv files but all of the keywords are skipped upon import (they show up in the Skipped Ad Groups tab on the import review).  I have tried bidding at both the ad group and keyword level, as well as both and they still never go in.  I've had to use the web UI which is hard because it doesn't scale to more than 10k rows and often our campaigns are 100k or more...

Let me know if you have any thoughts and will be happy to call customer support and share my import files if not.

    Dave

    Hi,

I actually have the same issue -- the keywords are not imported. I am using version 3.

I got confirmation from colleagues that keyword import works on the older version (2.x).

The import file is actually the template file downloaded from Microsoft web site:

http://g.live.com/0HE_TRACKSTAR_ENUS9/148515  (CSV template for campaign imports)

http://g.live.com/0HE_TRACKSTAR_ENUS9/148514   (Excel template for campaign imports)

http://g.live.com/0HE_TRACKSTAR_ENUS9/148510  (Excel template for keyword imports)

http://g.live.com/0HE_TRACKSTAR_ENUS9/148511 (CSV template for keyword imports)

Am I using the wrong template for adCenter desktop tool? Or we should only use the file which exported from the desktop tool?

Here are the screen captures on campaign/keyword imports

    Hello Kevin Li,

    You are correct.

The import sheets that you have posted seem to be for the Web U.I Only.

Only use the Template that you export from the adCenter Desktop Tool. It may appear to be the same the columns are in fact a little different.

If you continue to have issues. Please reply to this thread.

    Thank you for your reply!

Is this by design or it's a bug? Why the template works for an older version (2.x) of desktop tool?

If it's by design,  maybe your company shall update the online doc for WebUI template pages, and the online documents for adcenter desktop tool to clear the confusion -- clearly define the limitation for each template.  Both tools (Web and Desktop) has import feature, but they are not using the same file format or has bugs, that's it's pluzzling to the users.

Please help provide the feedback to the product teams.

    Best regards

    Hi,

The issue (using campaign/keyword template from web ui to import keywords to desktop tool) still exists, but we can get around with it by using different file format for adCenter desktop or use web UI for now. Like i said, it's just confusing to the users.

        Thanks.
