Hi,

I didn't want to bump an old thread that discussed troubleshooting tips that i've already been through: http://community.microsoftadvertising.com/forums/p/2090/6885.aspx#6885

I've had this setup and working correctly with no issues since early April of this year, so out of the blue I launch excel for normal excel like things and i get an error message for http://advertising.microsoft.com/wwdocs/.... (the path to the vsto add-in)  Basically it can't connect.  I have no MAI tab/options visible in Excel where is used to be.  Nothing available under add-in options under the circle -> excel -> options -> add-ins section.

From the support link above:
Option A: Didn't apply, so i went to B and was hopeful
Option B: It wansn't here
Option C: The program doesn't show as installed in my system (vista 64x ultimate with office ultimate 2k7 -technet member :-))

So.. I go an download the add-in again and reinstall.  the installer tells me that "The latest version of this customization is already installed" from "Http:// <url for MAI.vsto>"       <---- huh?  already installed but not technically installed.  something fishy going on here.

I looked under the add-ins folder within my profile: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\AddIns and that's empty.

How can i fix this?  Where does the setup/installer extract the relevant add-in files to?  Any ideas on how I can get functional again with MAI?

Thanks,

Daniel

Now when I run the installer I get this error:

    Hi Daniel,

Try clear the Application cache and install again. Steps:

    1. make sure MAI is removed in Add/Remove Program
    2. backup everything under %localappdata%\Apps\2.0
    3. delete folder %localappdata%\Apps\2.0
    4. re-install

Deleting the folder may (by very unlikely) make other software stop working and that's why you'd better back it up before delete.
