How to select content keywords?

When I'm at:

Campaigns -> Ad Group -> Keywords Tab

I'm unable to select keywords with match type "content". The check box in front of the those keywords is not active. This was working fine in the past couple of months (and before that it did also not work). It looks like that since the last update it is not working (again) anymore?

Selecting other keywords with other match types is no problem.

I would like to update the bids for al content keywords with a lower bid dan 0.15. Using filters to get only those keywords in the result page is no problem. But how do I update the bids for those keywords when I'm unable to select them? Doing this manually one by one is of course not an option.

    Hi Dlocks,

If you are attempting to edit the bids for your Content keywords and you have already used the Content filter on the Match Type column and you cannot edit the bids, you may want to clear your cache and cookies.

Alternativly, you can edit the bids for the content keywords from : Campaigns -> Ad Group -> Keywords Tab -> Add or Edit Keywords and select continue. This will take you to the keyword pricing page. From here you can also filter the Match type column for your content bids or you can set a seperate bid for all content keywords.

I have done this. Also before using the content filter I'm unable to select keywords with the match type "content". Clearing cache an cookies did not help. I'm using Vista Home Premium 64bit Dutch version and IE8 (both have latest updates installed). I alse tested it with Firefox. Same problem.

When I look at the HTML source I noticed the following code in front of the content keywords:

    <r isselectable="false" >

And in front of keywords with other match types I see:
    <r isselectable="true" >

This means Adcenter sends me an page and is telling my browser that the checkboxes for content keywords are disabled. So I can clear cache and cookies thousand times but If Adcenter keeps sending HTML code with disabled checkboxes for content keyword it will not work.

I'm almost sure selecting content keywords was not working when I started to use Adcenter. Then in the past months it started to work. And now after the latest Adcenter update it is not working anymore.

Are you not able to reproduce this problem? If not, could it be a setting in my campaign? (I don't think so)

About your workaround, this is also not working when I follow the steps below:

    Step 1:
I go to: Campaigns -> Ad Group -> Keywords Tab -> Add or Edit Keywords and select continue.

    Step 2:
Under the "Select columns" tab I select "Displays on content network". I do not select exact, phrase and broad. I click on "OK". I now see only my content keywords.

    Step 3:
    I click on "Continue".

    Step 4:
I click on "Advanced bidding" and then I see all my keywords (NB: no content keywords listed here!).

    Step 5:
I click on the "Match type" arrow down icon.

    Step 6:
In the "Select filters:" I only select "Content". And then I click on "OK"

    Step 7:
    I get the following message:
This ad group has no keywords. Click Edit Keywords to add keywords.

    Step 8:
I can't select content keywords because Adcenter does not show me any content keywords.

So the workaround is also not working.

    Hello.

I know when we set up ad groups we can choose if we want the ad distribution to be Search Only or Search and Content. It is default to Search and Content. If your ad group is set up to Search only (meaning you uncheck the Content distribution) you will not be able to add content keywords.

    To verify:

    1. Go to the campaign

    2. Select the ad group

    3. Click on "Change Ad Group settings"

    4. Verify that the content box is checked.

If it is uncheck, check it and try adding the content match.

    Hope this is helpful.

That is not the problem. The keyword with match type "content" are in the ad group, are active and are getting clicks, views and conversions. I also can change the bid for each keyword by clicking in the "current bid" field on the right of a content keyword.

But I can't select the checkbox on the left of a content keyword because those checkboxes are disabled. Therefore I'm unable to update the current bid for lets say 20 content keywords using the "Set nondefault bids" for selected keywords.

So I'm wondering if anyone else using content keywords is having the same problem. Do you have an ad group with content keywords in it and are you able to click the checkbox on the left of a keyword with match type "content"?

I think I am starting to understand. When you check the keywords with content match and click "add or edit keywords" it brings you to a page where you it ask for negatives, {param1}, ...

I believe if you click continue when you get to that page and scroll down below to advance bidding you will be able to set a bid across all the keywords or change them 1 by 1. (Make sure you filter the match type = content)

I would recommend for best practices to seperate search and content into seperate ad groups. If you do that you will be able to make bulk changes using the methods below:

Click "add or edit keywords"  and make bulk change method using the structure below:

    keyword**bid**negativekeywords**param1**param2**param3

    Thanks,
