I know this is off-topic as support for DM LiveStats ended a fortnight ago but this is the only place where I might find some fellow ex-DM users struggling with the new regime - specially with the lack of support for the import of legacy server logs.

We recently had to re-build our server and had to re-install DM.  As a consequence, there's an issue that's come back which I'm sure I got sorted out back in 2006 with help from the DM support team: I'm getting a recurring Collector Event Notification which alternates between

  • DM Analyzer - Could not Validating License (Return Code=500)
  • DM Analyzer - error condition cleared - license granted

This happens 2-3 times a day  and I'm sure it might be influencing other performance issues which also seem to be caused by DM

I'm pretty sure this is permissions related  but before I start tinkering with this I'd like to check if anyone remembers confronting something similar

 Any help welcomed

 Thanks

 Julio

Hi Julio,

I don't have a support option to suggest unless one of the other users can provide advice.

Hi - your post is from some time ago but...

As of December 31st 2008, MS switched off the livestats and deepmetrix domains which includes the licence check required for the installable product to work (despite stating that the April 2008 withdrawl of support as part of the EOSL would still allow the product to work). This renders all installations useless as of 01-01-2009.

As MS adcenter analytics is still in beta and there is no timescale or pricing information available, I personally would look for a large multinational search engine specialist company who offers a free, established product capable of producing analytical information for web sites and advertising data.

Shame, Livestats.NET was a good product which we had faithfully used for years and then they sold to MS.

We have two LiveStats.Net server installations - and have not done anything to them - and they stopped working properly between Dec 28 2008 and Jan 1 2009.   Services run by the DM Analyzer process is not loading all of the data (seems to load < 1% of the traffic data).  This makes our Analytics solution for many domains useless.

I cannot guess as to why Microsoft would "break" this product and agravate the customers that are waiting patiently for AdCenter.  Time to find another vendor?

Has anyoine found a way to resolve this domain license check problem?  I am hoping someone at Microsoft recognizes this problem and fixes this soon.

Yes, here too, license server is not reachable anymore since early Jan 09.

It is not kind just to break this. Why not tell the people how to make this license check obsolete so former customer which bought this licenses can continue using the product?!

Thomas

There are 2 things you'll want to look at:

1. The JavaScript  used to embed  your pages has an expiration date of December 31st, 2008.  As a result, the cookies provided to your users will be expired.  You need to modify this script and extend the expiration date.

2. Check \deepmetrix\dmanalyzer\settings.xml.  This file has the address to the LiveStats.NET web interface and this is the address used by the DM Analyzer to acquire its licenses.  Make sure this this address can been reached from the DM Analyzer system.

Hope this helps.
