For me the adcenter desktop installation is a real mystery. I struggle with installation for 3 days now!

So please help me if you are an expert. After installation i have this message:

"A fatal database error has occured. Please ensure the local database store is available and permissions are granted for this user to read / write to it."

What do i have to do?

Thanks for everyone who helps; Andras

    Broc:

I am having the same problem with the Fatal Error message. It used to work just fine.

    Hi Broc

With this particular issue you are experiencing, I would reccomend that you contact support to have this looked in to right away. They may require the installation/log files. See above post for the contact information.

    Thank you,

    BrianH - MSFT:

It seems that the service has not been started for the SQL. This is easily corrected through the Command Prompt.

    • Goto "C:\Windows\System32\" and locate "cmd.exe"
    • Right-Click on "cmd.exe" and select "Run as Aministrator"
    • Enter this string: NET START MSSQL$ADCENTERDESKTOP and hit enter
    • This will start the service that is required by the ACD

    Thank you,

Hi again Brian, I tried this and it gives me the following error: "The service name is invalid."

Have to say I'm very close to giving this up hehe, any last words of advice? Have a nice weekend :)

Error 1067 would indicate that SQL Server Express service failed to start. Best is to look at the event log for any errors for this service. To see event log (Windows Vista/7):

    • Click Start
    • Type 'Event viewer' in run text box
    • It should find now 'Event viewer' program. Click on it to start
    • Open the Windows logs / Application and check for any errors related to SQL Express service

You could also try to do a clean uninstall and reinstall (under different account potentially). See earlier post in this thread how to do this.

None of Microsoft's suggestions are working, this one included. And WHY would I have to go and type in a command in CMD prompt to get your software to function properly on your own OS?

I have a standard Windows 7 install and your software doesn't work, seemingly on MANY users systems. Do you guys even test your software before releasing it? I mean, Microsoft is the largest software company on earth and they can't even get their software to work on THEIR OWN PLATFORMS!!

How can I revert to using the OLDER version of Adcenter Desktop? This is SOOOOOO frustrating!

(thanks for listening...I needed to rant!)

The latest April version automatically starts sql service in case it was stopped. Can you try that version? Also see the FAQ in case you get fatal DB error (but that would be fixed as well if you use latest April release).

If that still doesn't fix it let me know. This is not a known issue other than fixes we made for April release so if it still is an issue please let me know and I'd like to investigate.

    Thanks,

    Lucien
