Grow your business by advertising on bing, MSN, Xbox, and more!
Hi folks,
Is it really possible to integrate the Bing adcenter campaigns data with some web analytics tool like Omniture, Google Analytics etc? The reason why I am asking is because we need to understand the behavior of the user how well or how badly the users interacted with the website after clicking the Bing ad. So, was wondering if we could get some valuable feedback on that?
Thanks
Pankaj
Hey Pankaj,
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. As far as I know you can track Bing traffice through Google Analytics.
Thanks! :-)

Hi Pankaj,
You can use Adcenter Campaign Analytics to get some additional insights into user interaction with the website following ad clicks on Bing ads. A very simple explanation of campaign analytics is that it allows you to instrument specific interesting pages on your site (e.g., landing page, product information page, order summary page, receipt page, etc.) which represent steps in the path that user takes from click to conversion; and you can get reports in adcenter reporting, with number of events for each step of the process, reported by campaign/adgroup/keyword.

To add on to what Thomas said, there are also a ton of articles on the internet on how to accomplish this, and here are a few that are good examples:

This article seems to explain the how-to the best:

Basically, the you would need to append the landing page URL of their ads with campaign strings and parameters. See the mentioned articles on how to create the landing page URLs and use the appropriate Google analytics and Bing campaign strings. Omniture would also use a similar method.
Hope this helps! :-)
I am surprised to see not even a single reply from somebody on this matter. No reply from any top contributor or any Microsoft employee or anybody else. That's very strange!
Hi Ricky,
Thanks for getting back!
Can you please me the procedure how it is done? What all requirements are needed to make it happen? I am eager to know this and would really appreciate your assistance on that.
I am not too familiar with the procedures on how to/requirements. I've got an e-mail out to have a colleague look into this. As soon as I hear back from them with further information I will post back.
Thanks for your patience and have a wonderful weekend :-)
Any update on the tracking procedure? Please let me know in case you have got some inputs to share here.
Right now I am awaiting response from the analytic team on outside tracking procedures. I apologize for the delay. As soon as I receive further information, i will pass it along to you. :-)
Thank you for your patience.
Hi Thomas,
Thanks for the links. I really appreciate that!
Actually I am looking to integrate the data for my Bing campaigns with Google Analytics. I actually want to measure how well or how badly the users are interacting with my ads in terms of time spent, bounce rate etc...
Thanks again!
Thanks for these links!
I really liked the last one, which is talking about various utm parameters to work around Bing campaigns with Google Analytics. Let me try to implement it and see if it works for me or not.
I used Google URL Tool builder to create custom destination URLs and it worked for sometime, when I got the data in Google Analytics. But after that, some how the data stopped reflecting. I am not sure what exactly is the issue, but the website which I want to track the Bing campaigns under Google Analytics is Wordpress based. I am not sure what exactly happened, but now I cannot see any data for Bing campaigns under Google Analytics tool.
Do you have any thoughts on whether there are some special tactics to follow when you manually tag the URLs of any wordpress site to work upon with Google Analytics?
Hmm...let me look around and ask some colleagues if they have any thoughts on this. I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
Can you open up a ticket request for this? It is difficult to say how this you have your URLs setup without looking at the details of your account.

Ricky :-)
I have submitted a ticket using the form in the link which you have shared. Hopefully you guys will look into it and provide some solution.
Unfortunately I received unexpected reply from the support team after filling up the form. I have been told to contact Google guys to look into this. I am not sure where the exact resolution will be provided and whom should I contact to get this done.
