adCenter Desktop feature requests

  • Hey everybody,

If you're using the adCenter Desktop and there are features you'd like to see in future releases of the tool, let us know. Please post your adCenter Desktop feature requests in this thread - we'll take your ideas back to the team for consideration, and then keep you posted on the feature request queue and any ETA's as we learn them. If possible, let us know why a certain feature is important to you.

    Thanks,
    Carolyn

  • Here are a few things that would be nice to have...

     1. 'custom date-range' for the performance statistics.

    2. a 'click-to-conversion rate' as a choice of metrics

    3. a 'cost-per-conversion' as a choice of metrics

    4. the ability to copy-and-paste ads from one ad group to another

    5. the ability to pause ads and keywords

    6. the ability to update bids for any avg. position...not just avg. pos. one.

    7. the ability to update bids for any avg. position respective to a CPA ...example below:

if CPA is < $8 then update bid for avg. position one

if CPA is >$8.01 and < $10 then update bid for avg. position two

        etc....

of course if you added #3 & #6 above we could do the same thing by sorting by CPA and then updateing bids for the avg. position of choice.

     8. the ability to change change bulk keyword bids by a percentage.

    9. the ability to add negative keywords without having to enter commas after every word...use a list format one keyword per line...

That's all I have for now,

  • How about moving Negative keywords to a tab, that would let me review/add/edit negative keywords by campaign, group, etc.

  • Ok, here's another. Add View Active and View Paused, and View Deleted(?) to Views. This way when I am sorting and adjusting bids, I can exclude inactive keywords, ads, and groups.

    --- John www.marketing-ontheweb.com

  • And.. When editing keywords bids the entire entry is BOLDED. It would be desirable to only bold the changed text, bid, etc.

A nice feature in another interface shows you what you changed when you hover over the changed value. For example if I change a bid from .45 to .55 the amount is bolded, and hovering over the .55 pops up a .45 balloon so I know what the previous value was.

    --- John www.marketing-ontheweb.com

  • When "revert changes" is selected, the entire account reverts back. It would be desirable to have only the selected item(s) revert. :-)

In ads tab - Make Ad Preview clickable so landing pages can be checked by clicking on ad.

  • 1. The abilty to bulk change the status of ad group from draft. I cannot seem to find a way to change / submit new ad groups.

    2. Bulk change the Language and Market. Each new ad group defaults to US, but I can only change them to UK one by one. By selecting all ad groups and clicking Targeting, it gives the illusion that you can bulk change this, but it does not appear to make any changes.

OK, I can see how to do this. That was a quick new feature ;)

  •  Two (fairly obvious seeming) features jump immediately to mind:

    1. Ability to see uploading progress: when I post a large group of changes (especially when there are 1,000 changes or more) there is no indication that the post is progressing, it just says "0" complete until the entire post is done.  I just posted 70,000 changes (which took FOR-EVER) and the entire time it just sat there at 0.  A progress bar, or a tally of the current number of successful updates would be nice.
    2. Accurate summaries when multiple objects are selected: if I select a range of keywords, it will tell me that the bid "<varies>" even if it doesn't.  Which is kind of obnoxious, because I end up having to make "changes" that aren't necessary.  The same holds true for selecting multiple ad groups, etc.  Ideally, the summary should accurately reflect the selected components.

I'm so glad to have access to the beta version.  I can't wait to see this project continue to take form.  Keep it up.

  • Feature Request

    - Allow us to specify the field for the search and replace function.  I am trying to do a global replace of all the destination URL under the text ads 'cos I have migrated my website to a new domain.  It always return zero results.  I suspect the current search function does not include the destination URL in the search.

  • Right now I can paste a tab-separeted list of campaigns, and import them, but I"d like to be able to paste a list of new and existing campaigns. It should import the new, ignore the existing (if there are no changes), or update the existing (if something is changed, like sttus).

Same goes for the other tabs.

  • Hi, I've been using the tool for a couple of weeks now and while it's a huge improvement over the web interface (esp. for doing batch changes) there are still some strange issues:

    1. The search bar in the upper right doesn't work very well. The results are very hit or miss, and I've had to manually go through and look for things (25K keywords is not fun to do this for).  What is the distinction between "Search Manager" and "Search Browser"?

     2. Being able to specify a specific column to do find/replace in would be greatly helpful.

     3. When I sort (either ascending or descending) via one of the column headers, and switch views (e.g., sorting via Clicks column within one campaign, then viewing another campaign) the sort order is not persistent.  This is even with the sort order indicator still being displayed on the column header.  I have to click twice on the column again to re-sort.  It would be great if the sort state could persist while switching between views.

     4. Error messages for failed upload items.  I've had the same group of 269 keywords across different campaigns and ad groups fail to upload every time :).  I don't know why, because it doesn't tell me what I need to change in order to fix it. I've resorted to contacting our rep to have her do all the changes for us.

Thanks!  Good tool.  I can see this being really great with just a few tweaks/fixes.

  • Hi all,

I wanted to check in here and let you know the status of some of your feature requests. The team is still combing through requests, so if you don't see a comment about your request, that's probably why. It may be the case that a request is under consideration but there's not a status to share for it yet.

So far, two of these requests are on the list for release later this fall:

    1. 'custom date-range' for the performance statistics

    2. the ability to pause ads and keywords

The team also had some comments on some of the other requests. Please take a look at these and if you still have questions or an issue, please let us know so we can look into it further.

-- the ability to copy-and-paste ads from one ad group to another
-- this is available today using copy/paste (right-click)

-- the ability to change change bulk keyword bids by a percentage
           -- available today

-- How about moving Negative keywords to a tab, that would let me review/add/edit negative keywords by campaign, group, etc.
-- This is available at the campaign and adgroup level today in addition to keywords. It allows you to enter negative keywords in bulk.

-- When "revert changes" is selected, the entire account reverts back. It would be desirable to have only the selected item(s) revert. :-)
-- Select specific items on the grid and revert back. It should only revert those items back to when it was downloaded. If this still isn't happening as expected, please let us know.

-- Bulk change the Language and Market. Each new ad group defaults to US, but I can only change them to UK one by one. By selecting all ad groups and clicking Targeting, it gives the illusion that you can bulk change this, but it does not appear to make any changes.
-- Bulk targeting for adgroups should work for all selected ad groups - can you let us know if this is still happening for you?

-- Ability to see uploading progress: when I post a large group of changes (especially when there are 1,000 changes or more) there is no indication that the post is progressing, it just says "0" complete until the entire post is done.  I just posted 70,000 changes (which took FOR-EVER) and the entire time it just sat there at 0.  A progress bar, or a tally of the current number of successful updates would be nice.
-- We have made changes since this was originally launched. Can you try this again and let us know how it goes?

-- Allow us to specify the field for the search and replace function.  I am trying to do a global replace of all the destination URL under the text ads 'cos I have migrated my website to a new domain.  It always return zero results.  I suspect the current search function does not include the destination URL in the search.
-- It should include the destination URL. Can you try again and let us know if this is still an issue?

-- Right now I can paste a tab-separeted list of campaigns, and import them, but I"d like to be able to paste a list of new and existing campaigns. It should import the new, ignore the existing (if there are no changes), or update the existing (if something is changed, like sttus).  Same goes for the other tabs.
-- It does that today for campaigns – can you try this again? Also, you can use the import spreadsheet to either create new data for an entire account or update existing data.

I hope you find this update helpful. Please keep your feedback and questions coming -- your thoughts help us shape the Desktop as it evolves.

    Thanks,

    Carolyn

  • I was very excited to test adCenter Desktop.  I hope that adCenter Desktop will one day eliminate the need to send huge account spreadsheets back and forth with my account rep to make bulk changes.  However, there are some showstopper issues that prevent me from using adCenter Desktop:

    - I cannot search for more than one keyword at a time.  As far as I can tell, adCenter Desktop only allows searching for one keyword at a time.  My work requires me to routinely perform bulk searches of a few hundred keywords at a time.  See AdWords Editor for how they implement bulk searching in their Advanced Search.

    - I cannot specify if I am searching for keywords that match my search string exactly, or keywords that contain my string, or keywords that contain my string as a full word. See AdWords Editor's Advanced Search.

    - adCenter Desktop fails when trying to download a large account with tens of thousands of adgroups and a hundred thousand keywords.  adCenter Desktop is especially useful for advertisers with large accounts, so it's disappointing that it can only handle relatively small accounts.

While not showstoppers, it would be great if adCenter Desktop would support these features:

    - Find duplicate keywords and allow easy de-duplication (select highest/lowest clicks/imps/avgpos/CTR/avgCPC, etc.).  See AdWords Editor.

    - Search based on criteria like clicks, impressions, cost, CTR, avgpos, avgCPC etc.  Again, see AWE.

Microsoft is definitely moving in the right direction, and once adCenter Desktop matures, adCenter will be worlds ahead of Yahoo in terms of ease of maintenance.
