A New Filing Date
This year, the tax filing deadline has been pushed out to April 18th, 2011. The IRS has extended the deadline in observance of Emancipation Day, giving tax filers in the U.S. an additional three days to prepare and file their taxes.
How this Benefits Advertisers in Financial Services
If you specialize in tax preparation, accounting, and asset and debt management you should try to capitalize on the three extra days of search traffic not available in previous years. Targeting searchers seeking tax extensions is likely to achieve greater search volume than in previous years.
The above chart shows how five tax-related keywords experienced large growth in the number of searches between the months of March and April. The keywords are: File Tax Extension, File Tax Extension Online, Federal Income Tax Extension, Tax Extension, and Tax Benefits.
Just as it was across the broader Web last year, these 5 keywords experienced incredible growth on Bing during 2010’s tax season.
Your Opportunity. Our Recommendations
· If your business helps customers consolidate financial information or prepare taxes, these five keywords have the potential to provide a great deal of new traffic if you aren’t currently bidding on them in your account.
· The extra three days to file taxes this year allows your business to capture a few days of extra traffic and potential leads. We forecast that search volume for these five terms will be greater in 2011 than they were in 2010.
· We recommend placing these 5 keywords in your account prior to April to fully prepare your account to receive as much traffic as possible.
· Make sure your ads clearly relate to the keywords, and your website’s landing page accurately reflects the offers in your ad text.
· We recommend a minimum bid of at least $2.00 to actively compete against other advertisers in this industry. Remember, you may not always pay the maximum cost for each click your ad receives.
