  • Comments 5

Continuing on with the recent Fall 2010 Upgrades, the adCenter DesktopBeta team has just released some new improvements and features based on the insights provided to us by your detailed feedback.  Below are the new features now available in this latest release:

For All Advertisers

  • Exposing Reasons for Disapproved Ads and Keywords. By exposing the reasons for an ad’s disapproval in adCenter Desktop, and allowing for filtering based on those reasons, you will now be able to find and resolve editorial issues in a more efficient manner.
  • Upgrade Available Prompting. You will now receive convenient in-tool alerts that notify you when adCenter Desktop updates are available, allowing you to keep current and always have access to the latest tool features and advancements.
  • Pop-up for Default Timezone & Market Settings. Ensure that timezone and market settings are accurately established and will apply by default when creating new campaigns and ad groups.

For North American Advertisers Only

  • Enhanced Search Network Distribution. Exercise more control over where your search ads display with the ability to select your search ad network distribution at the ad group level. Choose between the entire Bing and Yahoo! search network, only Bing and Yahoo! search syndicated partners, or only Bing and Yahoo! sites.
  • Enhanced Website Exclusion. For additional control, you can use the new website exclusion feature for search ads to designate sites you do not want to have search ads displayed on between the campaign and ad group levels.
  • Device Targeting. Now, you can target and customize your campaigns by the type of device on which it will appear (PC, mobile phone, or both) via adCenter Desktop to make sure your ads are as relevant and enticing as possible, with appropriate calls to action for the environment in which it is being viewed.

If you’re new to adCenter and have not yet used the adCenter DesktopBeta, here’s a quick summary of some of the functionality offered by this time-saving tool:

  • Campaign-Level and Ad Group-Level Targeting. You can apply customer targeting for day of week, time of day, gender, geographic location, and age, as well as set incremental bids for your entire campaign and further refine targeting for individual ad groups.
  • Ad Group-Level Bidding. Using default bids, you can bid at the ad group level in addition to the keyword level.
  • Dashboard. You can use gadgets to view alerts, favorites, and visual overviews of campaign performance.
  • Customization. You can configure display, language, and other settings as well as define default campaign settings.
  • Advanced Filtering. In the Manager pane, you can create filters based on a wide range of criteria.
  • Apply Negative Keywords to Ad Groups or Campaigns. Use the Negative Keywords Migration Wizard to broaden the application of your negative keywords.
  • Pause and Resume Ads and Keywords. Pause and resume ads, keywords, ad groups, and campaigns.
  • Submit Ad Groups as Active. Set your ad group status to active, and the ad group is automatically submitted when you upload from adCenter Desktop to adCenter online.
  • Copy and Paste Targeting Settings. You can more easily move targeting information from one ad group to another.
  • Advanced Bid Changes. Increase or decrease your bid for single or multiple keywords by a percentage or a value, and set a maximum bid limit.
  • Import Wizard. Easily import campaign data from other search engines, virtually eliminating the need to re-create existing campaigns.

  • The upgrade doesn't work at all.  I can't get past the loading screen until I see an error that reads, "adCenter Desktop has encountered unexpected error . The application will exit after you click on the Ok button. If the problem persists, contact the adCenter Support team." - After which, the program closes, and I'm back to square one.  Unacceptable (both the bad programming and the bad English and punctuation).

  • Hi Kyle,

I would suggest posting your issue in the Desktop forum as there are folks in there who'll be able to help you troubleshoot and resolve: community.microsoftadvertising.com/.../15.aspx

    Thanks!

  • It is interesting Topic !

  • Why isn't there an opportunity to leave feedback or feature requests in the AdCenter Desktop or the AdCenter website?  Or a button to report bugs?  This is an immature product in a marketplace dominated by a mature competitor and I'd like to help.  Isn't that the point of a Beta?

  • Hi Drew,

There actually is a "Feedback" link in the grey bar along the bottom of the adCenter log in screen where you can share your thoughts, feature requests and report suspected bugs.

    Here's a direct link: feedback.adcenter.microsoft.com/default.aspx

    Thanks!
