Grow your business by advertising on bing, MSN, Xbox, and more!
This morning’s SMX Advanced keynote was a Q & A with host Danny Sullivan and Yusuf Mehdi, Senior Vice President, Online Audience Business at Microsoft.
Yusuf announced and demoed a new feature coming to Bing: bing.com/social, which shows the latest search results from Facebook and Twitter, including trending topics and popular shared links, and will be live later today. Read all the details on the Bing Blog.
Key takeaways Yusuf hit on:
· It’s been a year and the Bing team has been "working like crazy" – there’s still work to do to get where we want to be
· The partnership with Apple on the Bing app and Safari aligns with the Bing vision of helping people make decisions
· Bing has seen a lot of growth in the travel, shopping, health and local verticals. Videos and images are popular as well - users can "discover the world" through the Bing.com home page image
· Users can now develop their own Bing Maps apps – see the Bing Maps blog for more info
· “Data will show you the way” – the Bing team uses research and data to build solutions to meet searchers’ needs
Danny ended the session by announcing Bing cupcakes to celebrate Bing’s birthday. Yusef’s closing comments: “I love the search industry…it’s a celebration for all of us.”

Very interesting to see how they incorporate external reference factors to decide what they perceive as a suitable source and how it will combat spam which is still common to the Google social results.
