Search Engine Strategies 2010 – Day 1

Search Engine Strategies 2010 – Day 1

  • Comments 1

Hundreds of people braved the wet and cold weather yesterday to attend day 1 at Search Engine Strategies in North London.

Any one who came in from the freezing elements would have had their cockles warmed by the keynote from Avianash Kaushik, who wowed the crowd with some singularly effective, engaging, accessible and inspiring tips on how to delve a little deeper into your search analytics:

"If you want to change your organisation, compute the economic value of the work that you do!"

"Revenue = Good - Economic Value = God!"

The our blogger for the day, Colm Bracken, then scooted off to an analytics session, before we both met up at our Bing presentation where our very own Peter Maxmin took the audience through some of the thinking behind the decision engine.

In the afternoon we both attended the Introduction to SEO session with Matt Bailey, who did a great job of taking what can be quite a mystifying area of marketing and making it real and manageable with his simple tips.

Conferences like these never end at 5.30pm as the discussions and tip sharing tend to go on deep into the night, but as the cosmopolitan delegates were sampling the culinary delights of Upper Street, no doubt a few were polishing off presentations for today.

This is where we’ll be over the next few hours:

10:30-11:30am - Social Media 101 - Microsoft speaker: Mel Carson

12:30pm – 1:30pm - SEO: Where to Next? - Microsoft speaker: Dan Cohen

4:30-5:30pm - Social Media & the Marketing Mix - Microsoft moderator: Mel Carson

I’m really looking forward to the Social Media sessions, especially in the light of this being the week of the launch of our Social Media White Paper.

Check out all our coverage, photos on Facebook and Flickr and follow our Tweets for the day.

Thanks

Mel

  • Blogs are not just about SEO. They should be about establishing reputation, attracting human beings etc. Humans buy; search engines don’t…….
