Atlas Media Add-in was introduced a few months back and so far the response that I've received is that it's been a great tool and time-saver in many ways. While the Media Add-in can perform more functions than what currently exists in the Atlas Import Tool, don't fret! The Atlas Import Tool will still be available until the Media Add-in has exceeded all the capabilities of the existing Import Tool.

First off, do you love Excel as much as I do? If the answer's yes, you'll find that many functions that can be performed in the Atlas Media Console can be easily translated into the Media Add-in with simple copying and pasting.

Below I will highlight some of my favorite time-savers for using this tool:

· Updating multiple billing periods: Are you currently navigating through the Media Console pages into separate Cost Packages just to update flighting or costing properties? Did you recently re-negotiate your rates and need to make adjustments to the Cost Package? Use the Media Add-in to quickly update multiple billing periods by making adjustments to existing fields or inserting additional rows. Note that you will need to do this on a Cost Package by Cost Package level, but the ease of making these adjustments in Excel will be a time-saver.

Billing Periods

· Updating Placement media codes: If you find that you constantly need to update Placement media codes or need to use unique codes that vary across Placements, you can easily accomplish this through the Media Add-in. Drill down into the Buy or Cost Package level, pull an export of the Placements, update the media cost properties and click Submit.

Placement Media Codes

· Activating and inactivating Placements: Easily drill into the Buy or Cost Package level, select the Placements that need a status change, and click Submit. It's just that simple.

Activate Inactivate Placements

· Changing Buy status: No need to log into the Media Console to update a Buy status from Drafted to In Negotiation, or one of the other property options. Simply select the drop-down to change the status and click Submit.

Buy Status

· Uploading creative files and creating ads: You can copy the full file path from your desktop of the creative file (image or flash) to upload into the default creative directory, along with creating an ad from the file in bulk. This reduces the steps to creating an ad, but only if you're able to house these creative files in the default directory.

Creating Ads

· Updating clickthrough URLs in ads: Need to quickly update multiple clickthrough URLs for ads? Quickly pull a list of all ads under an Advertiser (image or Flash), update the clickthrough URLs for the associated ad rows, and then click Submit. Tada!
