Anyone else out there hiding behind the sofa as the next digital creation appears from the darkness to terrify an already confused and overwhelmed media community? Just me, then?  Mind you, I was afraid of the Cybermen.

Digital media shouldn’t be a scary place yet the pace of change in the sector sometimes makes you wonder if you’ll ever truly get to grips with constantly evolving challenges and opportunities that define and then almost immediately re-define the sector.

As Microsoft is a key figure at the forefront of this constant evolution it kind of makes sense that Microsoft Advertising in the UK has created an in-house service that provides the advertising community with a single destination to try and make sense of what’s going on in the industry. As we’ve all been told on countless occasions, great advertising is based on great story telling and great stories are grounded in insight and understanding, not just of the consumer but the channels through which these stories are voiced. So, knowledge is power. Where have we heard that before?

Introducing Microsoft DM5 – Microsoft’s Digital Masters are a new division that aims to help advertisers get a better understanding of how to optimize their advertising strategy online. It includes research specialists, creative media strategists and product experts whose collective aim is to advise and inform on best practice within the digital marketing space. There’s more than two bakers’ dozen in the team so between us we know a thing or two about what’s happening and probably more importantly, what’s about to happen in the industry.

There's a brand new, shiny online knowledge hub you can visit to access our stuff or alternatively the team are charged and ready to come out and listen to your challenges and come back with a customized response.

Who’d have thought it, a personalized service in an increasingly automated society? Surely it’ll never catch on? Let me know what you think.

James Hayr – proud father of the new DM5
