A couple of weeks ago, I attended a Ragan Communications conference in Redmond focused on PR and social media and how these worlds collide.
PR and social haven’t always gotten along, but now it’s clear that the industry and many major corporations are embracing the two disciplines as vital partners. Much of the conference focused on business to consumer or B2C marketing with comments tossed around that business to business or B2B social marketing is difficult. I agree with this to a point.
There are many more examples of successful B2C social marketing campaigns and B2C support models (think Dell, Jet Blue, Zappos), but there are also some strong B2B examples as well (think AMEX and PayPal).
Mel Carson, from our Microsoft Advertising Community team was recently interviewed at SES Hong Kong where he shares a little about what we do as a team in the B2B space as well as his thoughts on increasing ROI through B2B lead generation.
