How do I create a simple ad unit?
We are glad to have you part of Microsoft pubCenter! You are probably anxious to get started and already realize the cornerstone of Publisher performance is the ad unit. Setting up ad units on your page will allow you to receive ads related to your web property, and when people visit your property and click on your ad, you earn money.
This article has been broken down into three steps to assist you in setting up your ad unit.
Step 1: Ad type
Step 2: Colors and Fonts
Step 3: Ad Unit Code
To get started click on Setup tab---Create new. From there follow the steps to create your ad unit.

Step 1: Ad type
1. Name your ad unit.
Note: Choose a name that is easily identified later when you want to manage your ad unit.
2. Set up your ad display type.
Note: You can set an ad unit to run only text ads but not to run only image ads. If you want image ads to appear on your site, the ad unit must accept both
text and image.
3. Option: You can create channels to track the performance of your ad units.
4. Option: The default fallback option setting is a solid white color.
Note: A fallback ad will serve in the case of a system wide issue affecting ad delivery. The fallback option provides a placeholder for the non-displayed
ad unit and no revenue will be generated while fallbacks options are in place. You have the option of using an Image URL for a fallback option.
5. Click Continue.

Step 2: Colors and Fonts
1. Choose an ad format.
2. Choose the ad style.
Note: Advanced ad style gives you more customizable options.
3. Choose a predefined template or create your own template.
Note: You can view the actual ad based on your customization and save it as a new template.
4. Click the Save and Generate Code button.

Step 3: Ad Unit Code
Finally, copy the code exactly as provided and paste the ad unit code to each web page you want ads to appear.
Note: Ads will start appearing within several minutes of adding the ad unit code to an approved web property.
