Microsoft pubCenter Overview

Whenever you try something new there are bound to be questions. We have taken a stab at providing you with answers to some of the questions you may have about Microsoft pubCenter. You can also checkout the pubCenter Community for more information.

Q: What is Microsoft pubCenter?
A: adCenter Publisher is a tool that enables publishers to monetize their websites by placing Microsoft adCenter content ads on their web pages.

Q: When is pubCenter being launched out of the beta pilot?
A: We will evaluate customer interest and product performance as we move through the pilot program, but we have no specific launch plans to announce at this time. 

Q: Why has the pubCenter been released in pilot?
A: pubCenter is still under development. Releasing it in a pilot phase will allow us to learn more about customer interest in content advertising and provide guidance as to how we can improve the product by delivering the right feature set required to meet publisher and advertiser needs.

Q: Why is Microsoft entering the self-serve publisher market?
A:  Publishers are seeking new self-serve advertising alternatives in this space. We believe that the opportunity exists for innovation and to provide a self-serve model that will provide greater value for publishers and advertisers.

Q: Why are publishers required to sign a confidentiality agreement when signing up?
A: We have asked publishers to sign a confidentiality agreement because our product is still in development, and therefore, is not a public offering at this time.

Q: Is pubCenter designed to take on Google AdSense?
A: Our focus is on delivering products and services that meet the broad spectrum of customer needs. We hear from prospective customers that they are interested in new monetization alternatives in this space, so we’re pursuing this pilot to better understand how to address customer requests.

Q: How is this self-serve offering different than what Google or Yahoo! offer?
A: We are currently evaluating the similarities and differences in our model versus other industry offerings. Feedback from prospective publisher customers has been that they are interested in using new self-serve publisher tools to help them improve and gain greater value from online advertising.
