Campaign Management Error Codes

The campaign management error codes are being posted here so that they can be updated more frequently than the adCenter API documentation. This is a duplicate of the error code list at Campaign Management Error Codes, although this list may often be more up-to-date than the list on MSDN.

The error codes in the following table apply to all campaign management APIs.

Error Code	Description
1001	The status cannot be changed by using an update service operation. Instead, use the Pause or Resume API.
1003	The status property must be null for an add operation.
1004	The identifier property must be null for an add operation.
1005	The negative keyword property is not valid.
1006	The total length of the negative keywords has been exceeded.
1007	A negative keyword matches a keyword.
1008	The account status is not valid for the requested operation.
1009	For aggregators, the customer's account ID must be supplied in the request header.
1010	The system is currently in read-only mode. Only Get operations are supported at this time.

The error codes in the following table apply to the following campaign management service operations that affect campaigns:

· AddCampaigns

· DeleteCampaigns

· UpdateCampaigns

· PauseCampaigns

· ResumeCampaigns

Error Code	Description
1100	The Campaign.Id element is not valid.
1101	The Campaign.Name element is not valid.
1102	The account identifier is not valid.
1103	The campaign object is null.
1104	The Campaign.Description element is not valid.
1105	The Campaign.MonthlyBudget element is not valid.
1106	The Campaign.DailyBudget element is not valid.
1107	Duplicate identifiers are contained in the array of campaigns.
1108	The Campaign.ConversionTrackingEnabled element must be set for the campaign.
1109	The Campaign.TimeZone element must be set for the campaign.
1110	The Campaign.DaylightSaving element must be set for the campaign.
1111	The Campaign.ConversionTrackingScript element must not be set for the campaign.
1113	The array of campaigns is null or empty.
1114	The list of campaigns exceeds the limit.
1115	An attempt was made to create a duplicate of a campaign that already exists.
1117	No more campaigns can be added to the specified account.
1118	The array of campaign identifiers is null or empty.
1119	The list of campaign identifiers exceeds the limit.
1120	The campaign status is not valid for the requested operation.
1121	The Campaign.BudgetType element missing or is not valid.
1122	The specified campaign is not eligible for the cash back rebate program.
1123	The new monthly campaign budget is less than the amount already spent for the current month.

The error codes in the following table apply to the following campaign management service operations that affect ad groups:

· AddAdGroups

· DeleteAdGroups

· UpdateAdGroups

· PauseAdGroups

· ResumeAdGroups

· SubmitAdGroupForApproval

Error Code	Description
1200	The AdGroup object is null.
1201	The AdGroup.Id element is not valid.
1202	The AdGroup.Name element is not valid.
1203	Duplicate identifiers are contained in the array of ad groups.
1204	The AdGroup.EndDate element must follow the AdGroup.StartDate element.
1205	The AdGroup.LanguageAndRegion element cannot be updated.
1208	The ad group budget exceeds the campaign budget.
1209	The array of ad groups cannot be null or empty.
1210	The number of ad groups exceeds the limit.
1211	The ad group user cannot use the content medium.
1212	The AdGroup.StartDate element must be after the current date.
1213	No more ad groups can be added to the campaign.
1214	An attempt was made to create a duplicate of an ad group that already exists.
1215	An ad group that has expired cannot be updated.
1216	An ad group that has been submitted for approval cannot be updated.
1217	The requested operation cannot be performed on an ad group in the current state.
1218	The array of ad group identifiers cannot be null or empty.
1219	The number of ad group identifiers exceeds the limit.
1220	The AdGroup.LanguageAndRegion element, representing the distribution channel, is missing.
1221	The AdGroup.LanguageAndRegion element value is not valid.
1222	The AdGroup.AdDistribution element value is not valid.
1223	The distribution channel that is specified by the AdGroup.LanguageAndRegion element does not support content ads.
1224	The AdGroup.AdDistribution element is required when a new ad group is being created.
1225	The specified user is not authorized to use the specified AdGroup.LanguageAndRegion element for the ad group.
1226	An ad group must have at least one ad and one keyword associated with it before it can be passed to the SubmitAdGroupForApproval service operation.
1227	The AdGroup.StartDate element cannot be prior to the date that the ad group was submitted.
1228	The AdGroup.PricingModel element is not currently supported and must be null.
1229	The AdGroup.SearchBid element is not currently supported and must be null.
1230	The AdGroup.ContentBid element is not currently supported and must be null.
1231	The operation is not valid for an ad group that is expired.
1232	The start date specified in the ad group is not valid.
1233	The end date specified in the ad group is not valid.
1234	The cost-per-thousand-impressions (CPM) pricing model is allowed only if the AdGroup.AdDistribution element contains "Content".
1235	The customer account is not allowed to create ad groups in the specified ad distribution medium.
1236	The customer account is not allowed to create ad groups in the specified pricing model.

The error codes in the following table apply to the following campaign management service operations that affect ads:

· AddAds

· DeleteAds

· PauseAds

· ResumeAds

· UpdateAds

1300	The ad object is null.
1301	The title of the ad is not valid.
1302	The DestinationUrl element of the Ad object is not valid.
1303	The Id element of the Ad object must be set.
1304	The Id element of the Ad object must not be set.
1305	The Type element of the Ad object must not be set.
1306	The Text element of the TextAd object is not valid.
1307	The DisplayUrl element of the TextAd object is not valid.
1308	The Id element of the Ad object is not valid.
1309	The array of ad identifiers contains one or more duplicates.
1310	The array of ads cannot be null or empty.
1311	The number of ads exceeds the limit.
1312	No more ads can be added to the ad group.
1313	An attempt was made to create a duplicate of an ad that already exists.
1314	A default ad already exists.
1315	The title of the ad contains a syntax error.
1316	The Text element of the TextAd object contains a syntax error.
1317	The DisplayUrl element of the TextAd object contains a syntax error.
1318	The title of the ad contains forbidden text.
1319	The Text element of the TextAd object contains forbidden text.
1320	The DisplayUrl element of the TextAd object contains forbidden text.
1321	The title of the ad is not formatted correctly.
1322	The ad in the Text element of the TextAd object is not formatted correctly.
1323	The ad in the DisplayUrl element of the TextAd object is not formatted correctly.
1324	The title of the ad exceeds the maximum length.
1325	The Text element of the TextAd object exceeds the maximum length.
1326	The DisplayUrl element of the TextAd object exceeds the maximum length.
1327	The DestinationUrl element of the Ad object exceeds the maximum length.
1328	The combination of the ad title and the ad text does not meet the requirement for the minimum number of words.
1329	The title of the ad contains one or more reserved words.
1330	The Text element of the TextAd object contains one or more reserved words.
1331	The DisplayUrl element of the TextAd object contains one or more reserved words.
1332	The DisplayUrl element of the TextAd object is not formatted correctly.
1333	The title of the default ad contains a syntax error.
1334	The text of the default ad contains a syntax error.
1335	The display URL of the default ad contains a syntax error.
1336	The title of the default ad contains forbidden text.
1337	The text of the default ad contains forbidden text.
1338	The display URL of the default ad contains forbidden text.
1339	The format of the title is incorrect for the default ad.
1340	The format of the text is incorrect for the default ad.
1341	The format of the display URL is incorrect for the default ad.
1342	The title of the default ad exceeds the maximum limit.
1343	The text of the default ad exceeds the maximum limit.
1344	The display URL of the default ad exceeds the maximum limit.
1345	The destination URL of the default ad exceeds the maximum limit.
1346	The text of the default ad does not exceed the minimum limit.
1347	The title of the default ad contains one or more reserved words.
1348	The text of the default ad contains one or more reserved words.
1349	The display URL of the default ad contains one or more reserved words.
1350	The format for the display URL in the default ad is not valid.
1351	The array of ad identifiers cannot be null or empty.
1352	The array of ad identifiers exceeds the limit.
1353	There is too much text in the title across all keyword-ad associations.
1354	There is too much text across all keyword-ad associations.
1355	There is too much text in the display URL across all keyword-ad associations.
1356	There is no information to update in the given ad request.
1357	The operation could not be performed on the specified ad in its current state.
1358	The format of the destination URL in the default ad is not valid.
1359	The format of the DestinationUrl element of the Ad object is not valid.
1360	The Type element of the Ad object cannot be changed after the ad has been created.
1361	The BusinessName element of the MobileAd object is not valid.
1362	The PhoneNumber element of the MobileAd object is not valid.
1363	For a mobile ad, either the PhoneNumber and BusinessName elements or the DestinationUrl and DisplayUrl elements must be supplied.
1364	A mobile ad can be added only to an ad group whose AdDistribution element contains "Search".
1365	Mobile ads are not supported for the specified distribution channel.
1366	The customer account is not enabled to create ads of the specified type.
1367	The BusinessName element of the MobileAd object exceeds the maximum length.
1368	The PhoneNumber element of the MobileAd object exceeds the maximum length.
1370	The PhoneNumber element of the MobileAd object is not valid for the specified country/region.
1371	The PhoneNumber element of the MobileAd object contains a phone number that is blocked.
1372	Phone numbers are not allowed in the Title element of the MobileAd object.
1373	Phone numbers are not allowed in the Text element of the MobileAd object.
1374	Phone numbers are not allowed in the DisplayUrl element of the MobileAd object.
1375	Phone numbers are not allowed in the BusinessName element of the MobileAd object.
1376	The ad title failed editorial validation.
1377	The ad text failed editorial validation.
1378	The ad display URL failed editorial validation.
1379	The ad destination URL failed editorial validation.
1380	The ad business name failed editorial validation.
1381	The ad phone number failed editorial validation.
1382	The Status element of the Ad object is not currently supported and must be null.
1383	The EditorialStatus element of the Ad object is read-only and cannot be modified.
1384	The ExemptionRequest element of the Ad object is not currently supported and must be null.
1385	The ad object is empty, so there is nothing to update.
1386	The ad object type does not match the existing ad type. For example, a MobileAd object was sent, but the ad identifier refers to a text ad.
1387	The ad title is empty for all keywords.
1388	A keyword would have made the ad title empty for at least one ad.
1389	The ad text is empty for all keywords.
1390	A keyword would have made the text empty for at least one ad.
1391	The display URL of the ad is empty for all keywords.
1392	A keyword would cause the display URL to be empty for at least one ad.
1393	A keyword would make the destination URL blank for at least one ad.
1394	The ad is already deleted or does not exist.
1395	The ad status is invalid for the requested operation.
1396	The business name for the default ad is too long.
1397	The ad failed one or more checks during the approval process.

The error codes in the following table apply to the following campaign management service operations that affect targets:

· AddTarget

· DeleteTarget

· UpdateTarget

Error Code	Description
1400	The target object is null.
1401	The Target.Id element is not valid.
1402	The Target object does not contain any bids.
1403	The Target.Day element is not valid.
1404	The Target.Hour element is not valid.
1405	The Target.Location element is not valid.
1406	The Target.Gender element is not valid.
1407	The Target.Age element is not valid.
1408	The Target.Day element is a duplicate.
1409	The Target.Hour element is a duplicate.
1410	The LocationTarget.MetroAreaTarget element is a duplicate.
1411	The LocationTarget.CountryTarget element is a duplicate.
1412	The Target.Gender element is a duplicate.
1413	The Target.Age element is a duplicate.
1414	The country/region and metro targets must be mutually exclusive.
1415	The metro targets specified must be from the same country/region.
1416	The DayTargetBid.IncrementalBid element cannot be null or zero for a day target.
1417	There are too many location targets specified for the ad group.

The error codes in the following table apply to the following campaign management service operations that affect keywords:

· AddKeywords

· DeleteKeywords

· UpdateKeywords

Error Code	Description
1500	The Keyword object is null.
1501	The Keyword.Id element is not valid.
1502	The array of keyword identifiers contains one or more duplicates.
1503	The Keyword.Text element is not valid.
1504	The Keyword.Text element cannot be changed by using the UpdateKeywords service operation.
1505	The array of keywords cannot be null or empty.
1506	The number of keywords exceeds the maximum limit.
1507	One or more of the keyword bid amounts are not valid.
1508	The keyword bid amounts are not valid for a search ad group.
1509	The keyword bid amounts are not valid for a content ad group.
1510	The keyword bid amounts are not valid for a hybrid (search and content) ad group.
1511	The Keyword.Param1 element is not valid.
1512	The Keyword.Param2 element is not valid.
1513	The Keyword.Param3 element is not valid.
1514	Negative keywords require a partial match bid.
1515	One or more of the keyword bid amounts are less than the floor price.
1516	One or more of the keyword bid amounts are greater than the ceiling price.
1517	An attempt was made to create a duplicate of a keyword that already exists.
1518	No more keywords can be added to this account.
1519	No more keywords can be added to this ad group.
1520	The Keyword.Text element contains forbidden text.
1521	The Keyword.Param1 element contains forbidden text.
1522	The Keyword.Param2 element contains forbidden text.
1523	The Keyword.Param3 element contains forbidden text.
1524	The Keyword.Text element contains a reserved word.
1525	The Keyword.Param1 element contains a reserved word.
1526	The Keyword.Param2 element contains a reserved word.
1527	The Keyword.Param3 element contains a reserved word.
1528	The specified keyword does not belong to the specified ad group.
1529	The array of keyword identifiers cannot be empty or null.
1530	The number of keyword identifiers exceeds the maximum limit.
1531	The keyword status is not valid for the requested operation.
1532	The EditorialStatus element of the Keyword object is read-only and cannot be modified.
1533	The Keyword.ExemptionRequest element is not currently supported and must be null.
1534	A Keyword object that contains no data was passed to the UpdateKeywords service operation.

The error codes in the following table apply to the following campaign management service operations that affect keyword and ad associations:

· GetKeywordAdAssociationsByStatus

Error Code	Description
1600	The GetKeywordAdAssociationsByStatusRequest.Status element is not valid.
1601	The GetKeywordAdAssociationsByStatusRequest.Status element is null.
1602	The GetKeywordAdAssociationsByStatusRequest.ModifiedAfter element is not valid.
1603	The date specified by the GetKeywordAdAssociationsByStatusRequest.ModifiedAfter element is not in UTC format.

The error codes in the following table apply to the following campaign management service operations that retrieve keyword performance estimates:

· GetKeywordEstimatesByBids

Error Code	Description
1700	The keyword bid is null.
1701	The array of keyword bids is null or empty.
1702	There are too many elements in the array of keyword bids.
1703	The keyword in the bid is not valid.
1704	At least one keyword bid must be specified.
