Yesterday, here in the south of France, we hosted TED@Cannes.
The venture, in partnership with Starcom Mediavest Group, had created a huge amount of buzz beforehand and we were honoured the TED team gave us back stage access to the rehearsals and speakers so we could give you a glimpse of what goes into these amazing talks.
Fact: They’ve been online since 2006 and have uploaded over 700 hundred videos which have had over 250 million views.
Lucky to squeeze in at the back with Emily McManus who does all the social media for TED, it was 100 minutes of enthralling ideas delivered with such panache by Hans Rosling, Nicholas Christakis, Stefana Broadbent, Clay Shirky, and Stefan Sagmeister plus Wired contributing editor Gary Wolf, Foursquare cofounder Naveen Selvadurai, and musician Bora Yoon.
The above clip gives some insight into how the event came about, the scoop on what some of the speakers shared yesterday, and what it means to be invited by TED to give a talk.
Thanks to Emily and June Cohen for their help in bringing you this video. We promise to let you know when the talks have been edited and are up on the TED.com site.
Enjoy!
