Microsoft Advertising Digital Challenge – Make More Than Just An Impression!

Are you thinking about a career in media and advertising? Are you doing a college or university course in marketing and fancy exercising your mental muscles? Do you want to learn where you can find a wide range of digital advertising and marketing channels under one roof?

Well, for a great resume building experience, networking opportunity, and a chance to become adExcellence certified, as well as win prizes including XBOXs, Games, Zunes & copies Office 2007, you could do worse than enter the Microsoft Advertising Digital Challenge 

Who can participate? The challenge is open to all under graduate, graduate students, and recent graduates (within the last 12 months) all in teams of 3-5.

 

The competition includes some great training sessions via Live Meeting on display, search, mobile & in-game advertising - What they are? Why do they matter? and How can you manage campaigns across these different channels with efficient and effective results?

Students will be given an introduction into and learn about:

· Microsoft Advertising

· Live Search & MSN

· Office Live

· adCenter & adExcellence

· Xbox

· Zune

· Office 2007

· Facebook/Wall Street Journal partnerships and Microsoft Community engagement.

I quizzed Linda Gharib, a Search Account Manager based in New York, on how they saw the project fitting into the educational mix:

“We think about the Microsoft Advertising Digital Challenge as a mini-MBA in digital advertising.  Microsoft Advertising professionals will train students on the basics of search marketing, display, mobile, in game advertising and more.  Students will also have the chance to apply what they’ve learned to solve the case study challenge and present to Microsoft executives.  We are excited to bring this great learning opportunity to the student community.”

The competition is aimed at students in North America at the moment, but given the wonders of modern technology, there’s no reason why folks from around the world can’t dial in and learn something new!
